Guided Tissue Regeneration Procedures
Guided tissue regeneration (GTR) is a dental procedure designed to promote the regeneration of lost or damaged gum tissue around teeth. When the gum tissue is affected by periodontal disease or trauma, it can recede, leading to exposure of the roots and potential tooth loss. GTR involves the use of a special barrier membrane placed over the affected area to create a protected environment for new gum tissue to grow. This membrane prevents the growth of unwanted cells, allowing the gums to heal and regenerate properly. The procedure aims to restore a healthy gum line, improve aesthetics, and provide better support for the teeth.
