External Root Resorption Repair
External root resorption is a condition where the root surface of a tooth is gradually eaten up or resorbed. This can occur due to various factors such as trauma (falls, baseball or hockey hits), orthodontic treatment, infection, or prolonged pressure on the tooth. As a result, the root structure may weaken, leading to potential tooth loss if left untreated. Regular dental check-ups and timely intervention are important to detect and address external root resorption early. Treatment options may include root canal therapy and/or a surgical restorative procedure. In cases of extensive resorption, depending on the severity, extraction may be recommended as a treatment option.
