Dental Implant Placement
When a patient has one or more missing teeth and desires implant-supported restorations, the first step is dental implant placement. During this procedure, titanium screws resembling tooth roots are surgically inserted into the jawbone. These implants serve as a stable foundation for the replacement tooth or teeth. Following the implant surgery, a healing period called osseointegration is necessary for the implants to fuse with the jawbone. Once the osseointegration is complete, the patient returns to their dentist to have a custom-made crown, bridge, or denture attached to the implants.
